Foundation Certificate for Teachers of Business English
The written examination takes 150 minutes and covers the following areas:

Professional skills
(the client approach, needs analysis, syllabus/course design,
lesson planning)

Methodology and materials
(classroom approaches and techniques, appropriate materials and
their uses)

Basic business awareness
(the way businesses are run, the stages of a deal, basic business
terminology, the layout and content of routine business correspondence).
The examination consists of 3 sections :

Section A - Professional skills.
Candidates are required to answer a series of questions relating to a
« Teaching Business English » (TBE) scenario which is outlined in the paper.
The questions focus on the TBE professional skills a business English
teacher needs to have in the preparation of business English classes

Section B - Methodology (techniques and approaches).
Candidates are required to answer a series of questions relating to
another TBE scenario which is outlined in the paper. The questions focus
on the TBE methods and materials a business English teacher needs to
utilise in the actual delivery of business English classes.
- Section C - Basic business concepts and practices.
This section requires candidates to answer 2 (out of 3) questions relating
to basic business concepts and practices. One question will always take
the form of a 'correct the business document' type exercise.
